Self Initiated Exhibitions

This year I have been working on several self initiated exhibitions. In August me and Michael Borkowsky held an Open Call exhibition called UNITY, which was a reaction to the EU Referendum and invited anyone to submit anything  as long as it adhered to the theme. It was a huge task and took up every spare minute, planned from start to finish in just 6 weeks!

Although it was a big success, and we had a great time working on it, I certainly don’t plan to work to such a tight schedule again!

Another project I’m currently working on is an exhibition called Curious Cabinets. There are 15 artists working together and I’m running the project. We started this one last October, so in contrast we have had a whole year to work on it. We are making work inspired by Cabinets of Curiosity and wanted to offer something different for Halloween. The exhibition will open on 21st Oct at Exchange Place Studios, Sheffield, and we will have another event on Halloween night.

UNITY was a fast reaction to the current situation, but Curious Cabinets is a more considered project with a small budget, which means we can really make the most of the space and create an atmosphere. Both very different, both exciting to work on, and both a LOT of work!
